Belgium and Denmark compete for a spot in the women’s top 10

Belgium and Denmark are battling for a place in the women’s global padel top 10. At the FIP World Padel Championships in Doha, the semifinals for ninth to sixteenth places saw Wyckaert and her teammates triumph, defeating Uruguay 2-0 at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex in the morning. Belgium’s first victory came with Helena Wyckaert and An-Sophie Mestac’s commanding 6-0, 6-1 win over De Los Santos Sarasua/David De Lima González. Pysson/Maligo also secured a decisive win against Belassi Hitta/Carriquirry Depons, finishing 6-1, 6-3.

 

In tomorrow’s final showdown, the Belgian team will face Denmark, who won 2-0 over Japan. The tie opened with Frolich-Jensen/Skov’s 6-3, 7-5 victory over Tokumoto/Tsukamoto. The second match, lasting over two hours, saw Maria Rasmussen and Gitte Haxen come from behind after losing the first set, ultimately defeating Rio Yamada and Haruna Okunaga 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Now, Belgium and Denmark are set to compete for a spot among the top 10 at the World Championships. Japan and Uruguay will play for 11th and 12th places, Egypt and Chile for 13th and 14th, and Germany and the USA will contend for 15th and 16th places.
