Stratford, Fernandez Lancha faces the Deus brothers

After the FIP Rise Rocks Lane in March and the FIP RISE Hop London at the end of August, the third tournament in this category of the CUPRA FIP Tour in Great Britain will take place this weekend. At the start, for the FIP Rise in Stratford, 32 pairs in the men’s and 32 in the women’s draw. Among the men, the number 2 seed and title holders are brothers Nuno and Miguel Deus, winners of the 2023 edition and of three CUPRA FIP Tour tournaments this season (the last one in Sassuolo). Among the players who will try to challenge the ‘Deus Brothers’ is certainly Andres Fernandez Lancha, who was the absolute protagonist in the Comunidad de Madrid Premier Padel P1: starting as number 224 in the FIP ranking, paired with José Diestro he managed to reach the quarter-finals. Speaking of players with a great feeling for the CUPRA FIP Tour, the number 4 seed are Italians Flavio Abbate and Giulio Graziotti, five titles on the circuit in 2024.

Among the women, the very young Agueda Perez (number 45 in the FIP rankings and born in 2007) and Patricia Martinez (44) lead the draw, with Marta Barrera (55) and Marta Caparros (50) the number 2 seed. Rounding out the Stratford seeding is Swedish legend Carolina Navarro, now number 40 in the rankings, who will play in Great Britain paired with Argentine Nelida Brito. The show will start on Friday with the first round; Saturday the round of 16 and quarter-finals are scheduled, Sunday the semi-finals and finals.
