Men’s day 4. Argentina-Portugal and Spain-Italy: final at stake

Also in the men’s draw at the FIP World Padel Championships in Doha, Argentina, Portugal, Spain and Italy will be playing for the title. If the matches of the women’s tournament in the morning session had provided excitement and show, those of the evening were no less, with Italy the last to earn a ticket to the semifinals. Simone Cremona and Marco Cassetta, with a 6-2 6-7 6-3 win over Leygue/Guichard at the end of a battle that lasted two hours and 15 minutes, repeated the victory of Aris Patiniotis and Facundo Dominguez over Bergeron/Fonteny (6-1 6-4), with Italy repeating their success in the semi-finals of the FIP European Padel Championships in Cagliari. In the semifinals, the Azzurri will find Spain, who defeated Brazil in two matches: wins by Arturo Coello and Ale Galan (6-0 6-1 over Rodrigues/Krames) and Paquito Navarro and Mike Yanguas (6-2 6-2 over Julianoti/Da Cunha).

 

In the other half of the final draw, however, it will be Argentina and Portugal who will play for a place in the final. The Albiceleste won the South American derby against Chile: 6-2 6-1 by Martin Di Nenno and Fede Chingotto to Walker/Munoz, 6-0 6-2 by Franco Stupaczuk and Sanyo Gutierrez to Valdes/Molina, with Tino Libaak and Alex Chozas completing the en plein with 6-0 6-0 to Martinez/Valdivieso. Portugal, on the other hand, reached the semifinals (scheduled not before 5 p.m. local time, 3 p.m. CET) thanks to a 2-0 win over the United Arab Emirates signed by brothers Miguel and Nuno Deus (6-0 6-0 to the two Al Janahi) and Pedro Araujo and Antonio Luque, victorious 7-6 6-1 over Ayats/Jurado.

For Chile, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil and France, however, the chance of returning to the court on Friday for the semifinals of the draw for places between fifth and eighth.
