Men’s day 2: Six national teams make the double. Wednesday will decide the last qualifiers

Not only Argentina and Spain. Six national teams have scored two victories after the first two days of the men’s draw at the FIP World Padel Championships in Doha. In Group C, France and Chile lead: three victories for the Bleus over Qatar signed by Bergeron/Vanbauce, Joris/Blanqué and Leygue/Fonteny, 2-1 in a comeback for Chile in the South American derby over Uruguay decided by Zarhi/Martinez’s 6-2 6-4 win over Rosas/Piastri.

In Group D, on the other hand, the second tie was won by Portugal (3-0 to Sweden with the successes of the Deus brothers, Perry/Fazendeiro and Araujo/Luque) and Brazil, which with the same score beat the Netherlands led by Bergamini/Julianoti, Campagnolo/De Avila Simonato and Da Cunha/Gomes. On the third day, France-Chile and Portugal-Brazil will be decisive for first place in Groups C and D.

In Group A, a second 3-0 win in a row for Argentina, which defeated the United States with wins by Tapia/Chingotto, Gutierrez/Augsburger and Libaak/Chozas. The direct clash that could be worth the second place was won by Italy with a 2-1 victory over Belgium: after the draw signed by Geens/Azzola (6-3 3-6 6-3 over Cremona/Cassetta), Graziotti and Sinicropi brought home the decisive point with a 6-3 6-3 victory over Peeters/Meessen.

Finally, in Group B, another success for Spain, with the 3-0 win over the UAE coming with victories for Lebron/Coello, Galan/Yanguas and Navarro/Sanz. In the other tie, 3-0 also for Paraguay over Mexico, with the second match won in three sets (6-3 2-6 6-4) by Dehnike/Rodriguez over Arredondo/Barrientos. Behind Spain are therefore the UAE and Paraguay, but the UAE won their direct clash on Monday.

On Wednesday from 6 p.m. in Doha (4 p.m. CET) the day 3, which will define the teams qualified for the quarters.
