Lyon, here are the winners: title to Guerrero-Bautista and Rufo-Caldera
October 13, 2024The FIP Gold in Lyon (France) has elected its champions. At the end of a spectacular day, with the men’s semi-finals opening the day, Lorena Rufo and Bea Caldera among the women and Fran Guerrero and Jairo Bautista among the men lifted the trophy. In the women’s final, Rufo and Caldera won their second consecutive FIP Gold after the one in Valladolid, overcoming number 1 seed Ale Alonso and Andrea Ustero in the final with a score of 6-2 6-3.
The men’s final, on the other hand, was a battle: number 7 seed Guerrero and Bautista won it in a comeback, beating 4-6 7-6 6-4 Alex Chozas and Leo Augsburger (3) after dropping only five games in the semifinals in the morning to Perez Cabeza/Ronco (6-2 6-3). Chozas/Augsburger, on the other hand, had also remained on court for three sets in the semifinals before getting the better of Rubio/Lijo (6-3 5-7 6-4). For Guerrero/Bautista it is the third title in a few weeks on the CUPRA FIP Tour, the first Gold after two Rise in Ceuta and Cordoba.
