Jeddah, Leygue-Gonzalez win twice: in Arabia and Newgiza

Just a few days before the start of the FIP World Padel Championships, Frenchman Thomas Leygue – paired with Spaniard Miguel Gonzalez – won the FIP Rise in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) by beating compatriot Dylan Guichard and Clement Geens (respectively among the French and Belgian squads for the World Championships) in the final with a score of 6-4 7-6. However, fate once again pitted the two pairs against each other in the decisive round of the Newgiza Premier Padel P2 qualifiers and, again, Leygue and Gonzalez prevailed at the end of a two-hour and 36-minute battle that ended 6-7 7-5 6-4. Leygue and Gonzalez thus advance to the main draw of the Egyptian P2, a few days after lifting the trophy in Jeddah.

The triumph of the first pair on the entry list also in the women’s tournament, with the success of Carla Serrano and Aitana Garcia Roman, who took home the title by winning three matches and all without losing a set: the decisive 6-0 6-4 in the final over Kaori Peco and Maria Portillo, which earned Serrano her third title in 2024 after the FIP Promotion in Teramo and Giulianova, but the first of which with Garcia Roman.
