Dubai, first time for Hungary and Switzerland

Never before the FIP Promotion Dubai had a Swiss or Hungarian athlete won a title on the CUPRA FIP Tour. The first time was for Dora Andrejszki and Karin Hechenberger, who won the title and 15 points in the FIP ranking by beating Silvia Lopez Vidal and Claudia Manzanares 6-3 4-6 7-6. “I am so grateful to everyone who made this victory possible – said Echenberger, who called her Instagram profile “Padelgangsta” –. A huge thank to my sponsors and coaches for believing in me and supporting me every step of the way”.

In the men’s draw, however, the title went to number 1 seed Sergio Icardo and Francisco Jurado, who beat 6-2 6-2 Alexander Khalanskii and Manuel Rocafort in the final. For Icardo and Jurado, it was the best way to get closer to next week’s FIP World Padel Championships in Doha: Icardo and Jurado are in fact part of the UAE squad list.
