Day 4: Delfi Brea wants to go far. And in Egypt she will play with Sainz!

The very young Andrea Ustero and Ale Alonso against each other, having shared everything, including gold medal at the FIP European Padel Championships with the Spanish national team. If ‘Ale’ is now playing with another youngster – Jana Montes -, Ustero is pairing up with Delfi Brea. The match lasted only 61 minutes, with the number 4 seed winning in two sets (6-2 6-1). Scrolling through the entry list of the next tournament of the Premier Padel circuit, the P2 in New Giza scheduled from 19 to 27 October before the FIP World Padel Championships in Doha, there is however one surprise: Delfi will play with Lucia Sainz. Before a new domino effect on the best pairs on the planet, however, Brea wants to go all the way with Ustero: on Friday, in the quarters, the challenge to Claudia Jensen and Tamara Icardo (7), victorious 6-3 6-1 over Barbara Las Heras and Marta Marrero.
WOMEN There were no surprises in the results of the round of 16: in both the women’s and men’s draw, in fact, the top eight seeded pairs made it to Friday. FIP number 1 Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez, however, needed the third set to beat Marina Guinart and Victoria Iglesias (4-6 6-1 6-0) in a comeback. For Josemaria/Sanchez, tomorrow, Lucia Sainz and Patty Llaguno (5), ahead 6-2 7-5 to Lorena Rufo and Bea Caldera. At the top of the draw, the other quarter is between Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo (3) (7-6 6-2 to Virginia Riera and Carmen Goenaga) and between Veronica Virseda and Aranzazu Osoro (8) (7-6 6-0 to Ksenia Sharifova and Lucia Martinez Gomez. At the bottom half, the other quarterfinal duel is between Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez (2), ahead 6-2 6-0 to Araceli Martinez and Alix Collombon, and number 6 Ale Salazar and Jessica Castelló, ok 6-1 6-4 over Sara Ruiz Soto and Carla Mesa.
MEN The top eight seeds in the men’s draw are also in the quarters. Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia (1) were on court for 52 minutes (6-2 6-1 to Juan Tello and Inigo Jofre): tomorrow the duel with Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz (6), who stopped (6-2 6-2) the run of Alvaro Melendez and Cristian Gutierrez. Also at the top, Mike Yanguas and Franco Stupaczuk (4) took advantage of the withdrawal of Mario Del Castillo and Nacho Vilariño; in the quarters, Pablo Cardona and Paquito Navarro (5), who eliminated Lucho Capra and Maxi Sanchez (12) 7-6 2-6 6-4 in two hours and 20 minutes. At the bottom half, however, Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan (2) were ok, having beaten Aris Patiniotis and Jesus Moya 6-4 6-3 in the evening; in the quarters, there will be Lucas Bergamini and Javi Garrido (7), after a 6-2 double over Federico Mouriño and Marc Quilez. For Martin Di Nenno and Juan Lebron (3), who overcame Luis Hernandez and Javi Rico 6-3 6-3, there are Momo Gonzalez and Edu Alonso (8), who after two and a half hours of battle won 6-4 6-7 6-2 over Juanlu Esbri and Xisco Gil (15).
