Day 3. Brea-Sainz, there is feelings: Delfi and Lucia into the quarters

From the Greenweez Paris Major played with Andrea Ustero, one of the best new talents in world padel, to the Newgiza Premier Padel P2 paired with one of the most experienced players, Lucia Sainz. Delfi Brea, who won four titles in 2024 with Bea Gonzalez, will try to win her fifth in Egypt. In the round of 16, Brea and Sainz, the number 2 seed, beat Jimena Velasco and Noa Canovas 6-3 6-0, and on Thursday in the first match of the quarter-finals (the programme will start at 10 a.m. local time, 9 a.m. CET) they will face Aranzazu Osoro and Veronica Virseda (6), who came back from a 6-2 6-3 win in Guinart/Iglesias. The other top seeds also did well in their debuts: 6-0 6-3 by Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez (1) to Pujals/Calvo (in the quarters there are Ale Alonso and Andrea Ustero, victorious in a comeback over Saiz/Lobo), 6-4 6-0 by Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo (3) over Aguilar/Navarro (in the quarters the duel with Nuria Rodriguez and Carolina Orsi, the only non-seeded pair to have qualified) and 7-6 6-1 by Jessica Castelló and Ale Salazar (4) over Carolina Navarro and Jana Montes, leading to a quarter-final against Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen (5), in the rematch of the FIP Platinum final in Marbella.

MEN In the men’s draw, the run of top seeds continues. Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas (1), after 6-2 6-1 to Gonzalo Rubio and Pablo Lijo, will face Lucas Campagnolo and Javi Leal (6-3 6-4 to Moyano/Cruz Belluati), with Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz (2) still hoping to repeat their Bordeaux title after 6-2 4-6 6-4 to Diestro/Ruiz. For the second time in two matches, Momo Gonzalez and Edu Alonso (3) were forced into the third set before beating, in this case, Zapata/Barahona: in the quarters are Alex Ruiz and Alex Arroyo (5), long-time teammates respectively of Gonzalez and Alonso, who emerged victorious in the round of 16 against Goenaga/Ayats. Javi Garrido and Lucas Bergamini (4) finally beat Garcia/Mouriño 6-1 6-4: tomorrow the face-off against Fernando Belasteguin and Tino Libaak (7), who in three sets got the better of Jairo Bautista and Fran Guerrero, champions in the last two weeks in the FIP Gold in Lyon and in the FIP Platinum in Marbella.
