Day 1: First results, big names make their debut on Tuesday

With the end of the qualifying rounds and the first four matches of the men’s main draw, the Newgiza Premier Padel P2 has kicked off. Tomorrow, however, the three courts at the Newgiza Sports Club will be full from 9 a.m. (8 a.m. CET), with eight matches scheduled on each court. The big players will make their debuts: among the men, Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas (1) will play the fifth match on the Centre Court against Denis Perino and Nacho Piotto, with Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz (2) closing the day 2 against Alvaro Cepero and Miguel Benitez. The most awaited match, however, is the seventh one: on one side Alex Chozas and Leo Augsburger, both called by Gabi Reca for the FIP World Padel Championships, and on the other Tino Libaak (also playing in Doha next week) and Fernando Belasteguin. Also playing on court 2 will be Fran Guerrero and Jairo Bautista, who arrive in Egypt after the Lyon-Marbella double in the CUPRA FIP Tour: opponents, Dani Santigosa and Miguel Lamperti.

WOMEN But Tuesday will also see the start of the women’s tournament, which, while waiting for the top four seeds, will see the other 12 first-round challenges on the court. For Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen, who are coming off their triumph in the FIP Platinum in Marbella, there is Italian Carlotta Casali and Spanish Barbara Las Heras. Also returning to the Premier Padel circuit as a pair are Ale Alonso and Andrea Ustero, the latter a finalist at the Paris Major: in the seventh match on court number 2, the young Spaniards will face Maria Portillo and Lorena Alonso.
