CUPRA FIP Tour and FIP Promises set a record, nine tournaments in one week. Carraro: “Our circuits were created with the aim of making padel known all over the world”
October 16, 2024An unprecedented week. Never in the history of the CUPRA FIP Tour – the circuit of the International Padel Federation – had there been nine tournaments on the calendar in the same week: in August it had stopped at eight. Games are being played in seven countries and three different continents, with the highlight being the FIP Platinum in Marbella, which started yesterday with the first round and will end on Saturday. A very clear sign of how padel is a global phenomenon, and how the CUPRA FIP Tour is developed at all latitudes. In addition to the Platinum in Marbella, there will be three FIP Rise tournaments (in Metepec, Mexico; Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Santiago, Chile), three Promotion tournaments (in Villena, Spain; Houten, Netherlands, and Dubai) and two tournaments of the FIP Promises circuit, the one reserved for young padel talents from around the world: the latter events will be played in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Jeddah, with the tournament linked to the FIP Rise.
“Nine tournaments of the CUPRA FIP Tour that will take place in seven countries and three different continents – said FIP President, Luigi Carraro –. A real record that on one hand certifies the diffusion of our sport in the world and on the other the efficiency of a circuit built on almost 200 tournaments a year, created with the aim of spreading the discipline in every corner of the planet and at the same time, thanks to the different categories of the tournaments, allowing the youngest players to play in the professional world by measuring talent and ambition, until they become the champions of the future”.
