Scrolling through the list of players at the FIP World Padel Championships in Doha from October 28th to November 2nd makes you want to book the first available plane and fly to Qatar. The final stage of the competition organised by the International Padel Federation and the Qatar Tennis Federation will be a festival of champions. With the presentation of the lists of eight submitted by the individual federations, the names of the protagonists who will do battle at the end of the month to win the world titles held by Spain (men) and Argentina (women) are official. It will also be a chance to see opponents players who during the season, in the Premier Padel circuit, are instead partners: Arturo Coello against Agustin TapiaAle Galan against Fede ChingottoDelfi Brea against Bea Gonzalez.

 

MEN And all the best players will be on the court: Spain will present themselves with Coello (number 1 in the FIP ranking), Galan (3), Juan Lebron (5), Paquito Navarro (8), Mike Yanguas (9), Coki Nieto (12), Jon Sanz (14) and Alex Ruiz (16). Argentina will reply  with Tapia (2), Chingotto (4), Martin Di Nenno (6), Franco Stupaczuk (7), Sanyo Gutierrez (15), Alex Chozas (27), Leo Augsburger (32) and Tino Libaak (36). Brazil will field, among others, Lucas Bergamini (20) and Lucas Campagnolo (24), who are firmly in the top 30 of the FIP ranking, but champions from all over the planet will arrive in Doha. Argentina, Spain, France, Portugal, Brazil, Belgium, Paraguay, Chile, Italy and hosts Qatar were the ten national teams already qualified by ranking, joined by Sweden, Netherlands, Uruguay, Mexico, United States and the United Arab Emirates.

 

WOMEN The women’s tournament will also feature the world’s best players. Defending world champion Argentina will have Delfi Brea (5), Claudia Jensen (12), Virginia Riera (14), Aranzazu Osoro (17), Julieta Bidahorria (39), Martina Fassio (51), Daiara Valenzuela (112) and Maria Laura Ferreyra (132). Spain, on the other hand, has an all-star team: number 1 Josemaria and Sanchez are joined by Gemma Triay (3), Claudia Fernandez (4), Bea Gonzalez (6), Marta Ortega (7), Jessica Castelló (10) and Ale Salazar (13). Portugal will present number 8 Sofia Araujo; Italy, on the other hand, will feature number 27 Carolina Orsi. Wearing the jersey of France, as happened at the FIP European Padel Championships in Cagliari, will be Alix Collombon (32) and Lea Godallier (57); with Sweden, on the other hand, the eternal Carolina Navarro, among others, will be on court. Spain, Argentina, Italy, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden, France, Germany, Brazil and Netherlands were the 10 nations qualified for the women’s competition thanks to the ranking: they were joined, after the qualifiers, by Denmark, Chile, Uruguay, United States, Egypt and Japan.
