Portugal, Netherlands and Estonia start strong on Day 1

Fiirst day of matches and celebration for the young padel talents competing in the FIP Juniors European Padel Championships. On Day 1 of the men’s competition in Budapest, Hungary, the reigning champions Spain started strong in Group A: a 3-0 victory in the tie against Switzerland, conceding only two games in the three matches played. Among the other top seeds, Portugal (Group B) also performed well with a 3-0 win against Austria, and Italy (Group C), which also conceded only two games to Hungary in their 3-0 victory at the end of the day. The tie in Group D was more contested, with Belgium winning 2-1 against Finland. France (against Germany), Sweden (over Norway), Estonia (against Lithuania), and the Netherlands (against Denmark) all secured 3-0 victories.

 

WOMEN The scores were clear in the first tie of the women’s tournament: Estonia started off with a 3-0 win against the hosts Hungary, in the Group B match. A clean sweep of victories also for the Netherlands against Germany (Group A) and Belgium against Czechia (Group C); finally, another 3-0 win for Portugal against Finland (Group D).

 

Tomorrow morning at 9 AM, the top-seeded women’s teams will make their debut, with the reigning champions Spain facing Germany in the second tie of Group A. Attention will also be on Italy (Group C) facing Czechia; Sweden (Group B) will play against Estonia, while France (Group D) will compete against Finland. The men’s Day 2 matches are scheduled for 4 PM.
