Day 5. Women: Egypt and Japan fly to Qatar. Men: the final is Australia-UAE

The FIP World Padel Championships Asia-Africa qualifiers have given their first verdicts. In the women’s draw, which put two places up for grabs for the finals scheduled from 28 October to 2 November in Doha, Qatar, it was Egypt and Japan who celebrated. The Egyptian national team beat the Philippines 2-0, while Japan overcame Australia 3-0. Tomorrow, Egypt and Japan will still battle it out for the top spot in the rankings, with all the other national teams who took part in the Kuwait City qualifiers returning on court for their respective finals.

In the men’s draw, however, there is only one ticket for Qatar. Australia – who eliminated Egypt 2-1 – and the United Arab Emirates, who got the better of Iran 2-0, will play for it in tomorrow’s final. Also in the men’s tournament, the teams will be back on court for the last time tomorrow in Kuwait City to finalise the rankings.
