Day 4, show of strength for Di Nenno and Lebron. The other bigs also advance
September 5, 2024
Among the world’s best pairs on court in the Comunidad de Madrid Premier Padel P1, Martin Di Nenno and Juan Lebron had the toughest task. The number 3 seeded pair won convincingly, overcoming Momo Gonzalez and Edu Alonso (9) 6-4 6-2. For one of the new pairs in the circuit, but already winners in P2 in Finland, there is a big challenge in the quarter finals against Pablo Cardona and Paquito Navarro (5), who prevailed 6-2 6-4 against Bautista/Guerrero. Top seeded Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia also advanced thanks to a 6-2 6-4 win over Rubio/Lijo, while in the evening Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan (2) got the better of Sanchez/Capra with a straight set (6-2 6-2) win. The two dominant pairs of the 2024 season in the quarters will be up against, respectively, Diestro/Fernandez Lancha (the only unseeded pair to arrive on Friday) and Nieto/Sanz (8). Completing the quarter-finals, starting at 9 CET at the WiZink Center, is the match between Mike Yanguas and Franco Stupaczuk (6-4 6-3 to Libaak/Ruiz) opposing Juanlu Esbri and Lucas Bergamini, who broke Hernandez/Jofre’s dream.
WOMEN In the women’s draw, FIP Ranking number 1 Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez are already in the semifinals. After their 6-0 6-2 win over Aguilar/Navarro, they will not play tomorrow due to the withdrawal of Ale Alonso and Andrea Ustero. The number 2 in the seeding, Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez, after beating 6-2 6-4 Claudia Jensen and Daiara Valenzuela, will find Jessica Castellò and Ale Salazar, a pair who started playing together from this P1 in Madrid, on their way. Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez (3) – after prevailing 7-5 6-0 to Marchetti/Godallier – will face Aranzazu Osoro and Veronica Virseda (7) in a day that will be completed by the match between the number 4 Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo and the number 8 seeded Virginia Riera (who started the season with Araujo) and Carmen Goenaga.
