Day 4. Brea-Ustero, from a problem to an opportunity: semifinal on their first attempt

Injuries to Bea Gonzalez and Ale Alonso left Delfi Brea and Andrea Ustero without partners. The Argentinean and the young Spanish, then, chose to form a new pair who, at their first tournament, the Oysho Valladolid Premier Padel P2, immediately reached the semi-finals. The talent of the two players is unquestionable, but the feeling also works: the 6-4 6-2 win over Melania Merino and Esther Carnicero, who closed a great tournament in front of the home crowd, is worth the qualification to the semifinals, where Delfi and Andrea will face Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez, who in one hour and 31 minutes eliminated Lucia Sainz and Patty Llaguno with a score of 6-4 6-2. If that between Brea/Ustero and Triay/Fernandez will be the semifinal that at 12 noon CET will open the schedule of the day session, the number 1 and number 3 seeded pair will follow. On one side Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez, who took advantage of the withdrawal of Ana Catarina Nogueira and Claudia Jensen when the score was 5-2 in the first set; on the other side Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo, who after their 6-3 6-1 win over Lorena Rufo and Bea Caldera are dreaming of their third final in six tournaments after the one they won in Genova and the one they lost in Finland.

MEN At 4.30 p.m., however, the afternoon session will be dedicated to the semifinals of the men’s draw, which will see three of the top four seeded players on the court. The number five seed, Pablo Cardona and Paquito Navarro, will have to overcome Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan (2), who stopped Alex Chozas and Leo Augsburger in the quarters with a score of 6-3 6-4, to reach the first final, while Cardona/Navarro did the same (6-3 7-6) over Juanlu Esbri and Lucas Bergamini. At the top end, however, the whole crowd at the Polideportivo Pisuerga will be for Arturo Coello, who, paired with Agustin Tapia after their victory in the quarters over Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz (6-3 6-4), will face Martin Di Nenno and Juan Lebron (3), who beat Momo Gonzalez and Edu Alonso by the same score.
