Day 2: super Australia and Kuwait double win, Tuesday the final round of the first stage

After the first two days of the FIP World Padel Championships Asia-Africa Qualifiers, the rankings and decisive matches are shaping up in Kuwait City for the top spot in the groups and advancement to the second stage. Day 3 will be the last of the first part of the tournament, while the quarterfinals will take place on Wednesday.

 

MEN In men’s Group A, there will be a showdown between Egypt and the host nation Kuwait, who today won the tie against Lebanon 3-0. The UAE and Bahrain will be the key teams in Group B, while in Group C, Japan-Iran will take center stage after securing their second victories today, respectively against Oman and China. In Group D, Australia leads with two victories (today against Thailand): behind them is Senegal, who were defeated today by Saudi Arabia. The Saudis, who claimed their first win today (against Senegal), are also in the race for the quarterfinals and will face Thailand tomorrow.

WOMEN In the women’s tournament, Australia also reached two victories with today’s win over the Philippines (3-0) and moved to the top of Group D. In Group A, Kuwait started strong with a 3-0 victory over Saudi Arabia and is now set to face Japan. In Group B, Oman won their debut (2-1 against Lebanon) and will face the UAE tomorrow. Iran also debuted with a win in Group C (3-0 against Bahrain) and will play against Egypt on Tuesday.
