FEP: historic record of registrations for the 2024 Campeonato de España de Menores
August 9, 2024The registration period for the 37th edition of the Campeonato de España de Menores Trofeo Babolat closed yesterday, August 8, setting a historic record for entries in an official padel competition. With 863 pairs registered — according to a statement from the Federación Española de Pádel — the previous record of 855 duos participating in the 2018 Campeonato de España de Menores has been surpassed.
The President of the FEP, Ramón Morcillo, stated that “this new, historic record is the result of the work that both the FEP and the regional federations do with juniors, forecasting a great future for our sport”.
The FEP highlights that more than 1.700 players will take part in the top event of national padel, which will kick off in Madrid on August 26 and run until September 1, crowning the new champions in the five categories of the competition: benjamín, alevín, infantil, cadete, and junior.
An event organized by the Federación Española de Pádel, Club Deportivo Somontes, and the Federación Madrileña de Pádel, with institutional support from the City Council and the Community of Madrid, will bring together not only the participating players but also the coaches who will assist them on the benches and the families of the young participants. An event, explains the FEP, in which thousands of people will be part of the great celebration of Spanish padel’s youth. A week that, according to the players themselves, highlights not only the sporting achievements and results but also the great atmosphere, the camaraderie among players “whether they are young or olde”, and the opportunity to compete with family and friends supporting them from the stands or through live broadcasts, which, this year, will again be available for the semifinals and finals on the FEP’s YouTube channel.
Club Deportivo Somontes, the official venue for the competition, and Club Deportivo Puerta de Hierro, as an auxiliary venue, are already preparing to host not only the competition, with a total of 40 courts, but also to meet the event’s needs.
In addition, the organizers, venue, and event sponsors are already preparing and finalizing various activities and activations that will take place during the week and will be communicated through the official social media profiles of the Spanish Padel Federation, Club Deportivo Somontes, Madrid Padel Federation, and Babolat Spain.
In 2023, in the junior category, Andrea Ustero and Alejandra Alonso won against Marta Arellano and Alba Gallardo. The result was 6-0 6-1.
