Genova Premier Padel P2, day 1: The top players are off to a strong start. Orsi makes Italy happy

The most awaited pairs of the Genova Premier Padel P2 started on the right way. The main draw of the 12th round of the Premier Padel circuit has begun at the Valletta Cambiaso Park, with the world’s best players all set to return to the court tomorrow for the round of 16. Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia (1) took advantage of the withdrawal of Ramiro Moyano and Xisco Gil when they were anyway ahead 5-0 in the first set (in the round of 16 are Gonza Alfonso and Jairo Bautista); Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan (2) defeated Josete Rico/Agustin Gutierrez in 50 minutes (6-1 6-0, tomorrow the duel with the young Argentines Libaak and Augsburger), just as convincing was the debut of Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno (3), 6-1 6-4 to Javi Rico and Juanlu Esbri, and that of Paquito Navarro and Juan Lebron (4), who left just one game (6-0 6-1) to Italians Marco Cassetta and Simone Cremona.

WOMEN Started well, in the women’s draw, the seeds from 5 to 8; tomorrow, however, will be the day of the ‘first’ in Valletta Cambiaso for the first four pairs of the seeding, who have benefited from a ‘bye’ in the first round. The queens of the BNL Italy Major Premier Padel Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez (1) will touch the courts of Genova, but there is also curiosity about the return to the court after the injury that made her miss Rome of Bea Gonzalez, again paired with Delfi Brea. Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez (3) will also make their debut in Liguria, as will Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo (4), who will play together again. Defending the Italian colours will be Carolina Orsi, paired with Nuria Rodriguez: after the success in the derby against Carlotta Casali and Alba Gallardo (in Rome paired with Delfi Brea), the duel against Jessica Castelló and Claudia Jensen (5) will take place on Thursday, with schedule starting in three courts at 10 a.m.
