FIP European Padel Championships, the draws. All on the court from tomorrow

Thirty-two teams, sixteen for the men’s tournament, sixteen for the women’s tournament, and four groups to start the climb to the European title. With today’s draw at TC Cagliari, the thirteenth edition of the FIP European Padel Championships opens, with teams on the court starting tomorrow (at 9 AM for women, from 4 PM for men).

 

MEN We start with Group A, where Spain is the top seed: against the “dream team” led by Momo Gonzalez and Alez Ruiz will play Germany, Monaco, and Croatia. Group B begins with Italy, which will play against Great Britain, Hungary, and Switzerland. France is the top seed of Group C, accompanied by Poland, the Netherlands, and Austria. Group D, one of the most balanced, is led by Sweden, followed by Belgium, Denmark, and Portugal.

 

Men’s draw

 

Group A: Spain, Germany, Monaco, Croatia

Group B: Italy, Great Britain, Hungary, Switzerland

Group C: France, Poland, Netherlands, Austria

Group D: Sweden, Belgium, Denmark, Portugal

 

WOMEN The women’s draw highlights Group B, where in addition to France with Godallier and Collombon (top seeds), Belgium, Poland, and Portugal are also present, with Sofia Araujo and Ana Caterina Nogueira ready to battle. The Bleues and the Portuguese have been the only two national teams to interrupt the Spanish dominance in the tournament, in 2019 and 2015 respectively. Group A is again led by Spain, accompanied by Denmark, Lithuania, and Switzerland. In this case, Italy is the top seed of Group C, with Germany, Finland, and Hungary, while Group D is led by Sweden, with the Netherlands, Great Britain, and Estonia.

 

Women’s draw

 

Group A: Spain, Denmark, Lithuania, Switzerland

Group B: France, Belgium, Poland, Portugal

Group C: Italy, Germany, Finland, Hungary

Group D: Sweden, Netherlands, Great Britain, Estonia

 

The first day features the first team in the group against the third, and the second against the fourth. Matches will be played in a “tie” best of three games, each game best of three sets. The top two teams in each group will earn the right to compete for positions from first to eighth, while the countries

ranked third and fourth will compete for positions from ninth to sixteenth.

 

On Friday, July 26, the semifinals will be held, and on Saturday, July 27 – starting at 10 AM – the finals will take place (to award the title and also to determine all other positions, from third to eighth).
