Finland Premier Padel P2, day 2. Cardona-Navarro, good debut. Thursday the round of 16

At PadelOne, day 2 of the Finland Premier Padel P2 was the day of the debut of one of this summer’s most awaited pairs, that of Pablo Cardona and Paquito Navarro. The tournament’s number 3 seed started their partnership with a victory, 6-4 6-2 over Victor Mena and José Solano Marmolejo, a pair coming from the qualifiers. Tomorrow, as the last match on the centre court (the afternoon session will start at 4 p.m. local time, 3 p.m. CET), a tough test against Italian Denis Perino and the eternal Argentinean Miguel Lamperti. The feat of the day, however, was that of Chilean Javier Valdes and Emilio Sanchez Chamero who, after an hour and 48 minutes of fight, beat Juan Tello and Fernando Belasteguin (4) 4-6 6-4 6-4. Tomorrow, in the round of 16, the top two seeds of the tournament will be back on court: Martin Di Nenno and Juan Lebron (1) will close the morning session (starting at 10 a.m. Finnish time, 9 a.m. CET) against Lucas Campagnolo and Javi Leal, while Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas (2) will face Teo Zapata and Javier Barahona in the second match of the afternoon session.

WOMEN But Thursday will also be the day of the women’s round of 16: Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez (1) will make their debut against Camila Fassio and Monica Gomez, who came from the qualifiers and today beat the Finnish wild cards Saarteinen-Sillanpää, but Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo (2) will also play against Giorgia Marchetti and Lea Godallier. First match in Finland also for Jessica Castelló and Claudia Jensen (3) against Alix Collombon and Julieta Bidahorria and for Lucia Sainz and Patty Llaguno (4) against Bea Caldera and Lorena Rufo.
