Day 3 men Sweden party: beats Belgium and is second. Italy also on top

“Sweden is on fire”. After almost six hours of battle, the players of Sweden are singing and hugging each other: thanks to the decisive victory over Belgium of Douglas Rutgersson and Linus Frost, the team captained by Jonas Bjorkman is certain of second place in Group D of the FIP European Padel Championships. Sweden will face Italy in the quarterfinals: today, the Azzurri beat Great Britain 3-0 thanks to Graziotti/Sinicropi, Cremona/Dominguez and Bruno/Patiniotis. Great Britain, on the other hand, will face Portugal, winner of nine matches out of nine in Group D, the last three of which against Denmark (Araujo/Pascoal, Jesus/Luque and Deus/Fazendeiro).

 

Like Italy and Portugal, Spain and France ended the first three days of the FIP European Padel Championships without losing a match. The defending champions, with Ruiz/Zapata, Cardona/Gonzalez and Arroyo/Diestro, beat Germany 3-0 and in the quarters will find the Netherlands (second in Group C with a 3-0 win over Austria); the Bleus, on the other hand, closed the tie against Poland 3-0 with victories by Guichard/Vanbauce, Blanque/Leygue and Joris/Moreau, and in the quarters they will face Germany, second in Group A. Here are the quarterfinals, scheduled for tomorrow at 4 p.m. at TC Cagliari: Spain-Netherlands, Portugal-Great Britain, Italy-Sweden, France-Germany.
