FIP Rise Hamburg, surprise win for teenagers Cabeza and Aragon

It was an unseeded pair that triumphed at FIP Rise Hamburg, a CUPRA Fip Tour tournament staged in Germany. At the Active City Arena, Spaniards Francisco Cabeza Teres and Manuel Aragon Herrera overturned the hierarchies and won the tournament, beating Maxime Moreau (France) and Alberto Garcia Jimenez (Spain), the No. 2 seeded pair in the main draw, in the final with a double 6-4. 16-year-old Cabeza Teres and 17-year-old Aragon Herrera had also beaten fellow countrymen Guillem Figuerola Santiago and Joel Olivera Palos, seeded number 8, in their first duty of the tournament, in the Round of 16. “We gained the tournament after winning five matches, playing at a great level”, Manu Aragon said, “Happy to have done it by your side, Francisco: come on, my friend!”. Also satisfied was “Curro” Cabeza: “After five great matches we won the tournament, playing at a great level. Very happy to win my first FIP and to be able to do it with you, Manu Aragon”.

For Cabeza this is the first CUPRA FIP Tour tournament won, for Aragon the second: in August 2022, paired with fellow countryman Alejandro Jerez Carnero, he won the FIP Promotion Cadiz.
