After three tournaments in South America (Asunción, Mar del Plata and Santiago), the Premier Padel comes back to Europe. It starts again in France, and at the Betclic Bordeaux Premier Padel P2, scheduled to take place at the Arkéa Arena, a venue that hosts concerts and sporting events and is preparing for a week of great padel. In the men’s draw, with 32 pairs starting, the number 1 seed will be Fernando Belasteguin and Juan Tello, who will debut against Miguel Semmler (who has been Tello’s partner this season during Bela’s unavailability due to injury) and Nacho Vilariño. The number 2s are Javi Garrido and Mike Yanguas: they will debut against Ramiro Moyano and Xisco Gil. There are Chipi Munoz and Javi Garcia for Momo Gonzalez and Alex Ruiz (3), with wild cards Leygue/Patiniotis finally facing Momo Gonzalez and Sanyo Gutierrez (4). Potential quarter-finals: Tello/Belasteguin (1)-Capra/Chozas (8), Alonso-Arroyo (6)-Gonzalez/Ruiz (3), Sanchez/Gutierrez (4)-Bergamini/Cardona (7), Nieto/Sanz (5)-Garrido-Yanguas (2).

 

WOMEN The women’s tournament marks the return to the court of Marta Marrero. The Spanish, who has been world No. 1 in her career and is coming back from a maternity, will make her debut on the Premier Padel circuit paired with Aranzazu Osoro, as the No. 7 seed in a 28-pair draw, in which the top four seeds will go straight into the round of 16. For Marrero/Osoro, debuts against Italy’s Carolina Orsi (who with Osoro reached the quarter-finals in the Banco de Chile Santiago Premier Padel P1) and Argentina’s Daiara Valenzuela. Leading the entry list are the two players who lifted the trophy in Santiago, Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez; seeded number 2 Marta Ortega and Veronica Virseda, then followed by Jessica Castelló and Claudia Jensen (3), Virginia Riera and Sofia Araujo (4). Potential quarter-finals: Triay/Fernandez (1)-Rufo/Caldera (8), Sainz-Llaguno (5)-Castelló/Jensen (3), Riera-Araujo (4)-Osoro/Marrero (7), Ustero/Alonso (6)-Ortega/Virseda (2).

 

After the end of the qualifiers, the main draw gets underway on Tuesday.
