Mar del Plata Premier Padel P1, here are the draws Argentina ready to welcome all the stars
May 18, 2024Argentina and the Polideportivo Islas Malvinas in Mar del Plata are ready to welcome the stars of world padel. Not even time to archive the Asunción Premier Padel P2, the eighth tournament of the Premier Padel circuit will begin, in the P1 category, the third of the season after Riyadh and Acapulco. With the qualifying draw already underway, the main draw was also drawn today, in the presence of Santiago Brito (APA president), Facundo ‘Chino’ Mazzuchi (tournament director) and two players, Noa Canovas and Daniel Windahl.
MEN The men’s draw, like all P1s (1,000 points up for grabs for the winning pairs), is made up of 48 pairs, with the 16 seeded players entering the court from the second round. All the best players are there: Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia will still be number 1 in the seeding, and will debut against the winners of the match between Nunes/Silingo (the latter among the idols of the Argentine fans) and Gutierrez/Ruiz. Paquito Navarro and Juan Lebron (3) have been drawn at the top: they will debut against Jimenez/Ramirez or Cepero/Benitez. In the bottom half, however, are number 2 Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan: first match against a pair from the qualifiers or against Goenaga/Esbri. Great expectations for ‘Superpibes’ Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno, who will play at home: for them, in the second round, Garcia/Munoz or two qualifiers. Potential quarter-finals: Coello/Tapia (1)-Tello/Belasteguin (5), Yanguas/Garrido (6)-Navarro/Lebron (3), Stupaczuk/Di Nenno (4)-Gonzalez/Ruiz (7), Sanchez/Gutierrez (8)-Chingotto/Galan (2).
WOMEN There will be 32 pairs starting in the women’s draw, which will compete in Mar del Plata from Monday. While waiting for the finals of the P2 in Asunción, the world’s best players know their way around Argentina. As was the case in Paraguay, number 1 ranked Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez will debut against Noa Canovas and Jimena Velasco, in a top half of the draw that also includes Alejandra Salazar and Tamara Icardo (4), coming back on court after their absence in Asunción and who will debut against Saiz/Merino. In the bottom half, however, a pair from the qualifiers for both Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez (2) and Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez (3). Potential quarter-finals: Sanchez/Josemaria (1)-Riera/Araujo (7), Castelló/Jensen (6)-Salazar/Icardo (4), Triay/Fernandez (3)-Sainz/Lllaguno (8), Ortega/Virseda (5)-Brea/Gonzalez (2).
