FIP Rise Doha: Hossam-Lacamoire, what a jump in the FIP ranking! Dutch women’s triumph: Koek/Van der Hoek celebrate
May 6, 2024A week to remember for Youssef Hossam and Julian Lacamoire. The Egyptian and the Argentine won the title in the FIP Rise in Doha (Qatar) by beating Italian Marco Cassetta and Argentine Dylan Demian Cuello in the final with a score of 6-2 6-4. In the semifinals, however, Hossam and Lacamoire had regained a set down (3-6 6-1 6-4) to Spanish Figuerola/Arnaldos. With this trophy, Hossam makes a jump of 40 positions in the FIP ranking, reaching number 211; even better did Lacamoire, with a +248 position, making him number 296 in the ranking.
Dutch victory, on the other hand, in the women’s draw, with the success of Marcella Koek (now number 81 in the FIP ranking) and Rosalie Van der Hoek (risen to number 115), in the final over Claudia Manzanares and Jaqueline Soto. It was a week of ‘battles’ for Koek/Van der Hoek, who played four matches in Doha and three of them ended in the deciding set. “Thanks to the tournament organisation – said the winners –.
