FIP Rise Bapadel Barcelona, trophy to the youngsters Montes-Eugenio and to the Deus brothers
May 13, 2024Jana Montes and Raquel Eugenio are only 16 years old, but they represent two great talents for the present and the future. At the Bapadel in Barcelona, Montes and Eugenio – who were not included in the women’s seeding – won the FIP Rise by beating 7-6 7-6 in the final the pair formed by Amanda Lopez Moral and Raquel Segura. For both of them this is already the fourth title of the season in the CUPRA FIP Tour: Montes, number 119 in the FIP ranking, had already won the FIP Rise in Burriana and Isla de la Palma and the Promotion Betsson Sweden III, Eugenio (128) had instead lifted the title in Isla de la Palma but also in the FIP Promotion in Castellón and La Cala. “You and I know how much we can enjoy every match together – Montes said –. Even in times of suffering we were always united, each other. You are fantastic, Raquel”.
Raising the trophy in the men’s draw were the Portuguese brothers Nuno and Miguel Deus, at the end of a hard-fought final (3-6 7-6 6-4) against Daniel Santigosa Sastre and Mario Huete Hernandez. “A memorable week in Barcelona – said the brothers –. After some long battles, we beat top-level opponents throughout the tournament and brought home one of the best titles of our careers. Thanks to all those who support us and who never stop believing in us”. Miguel Deus moved up 10 places in the FIP ranking (now rising to number 145); Nuño, on the other hand, moved up 18, from 199 to 181.
