Banco de Chile Santiago Premier Padel P1, here are the draws Will Coello and Tapia be on Belasteguin’s way again in the quarters?
May 25, 2024After Asunción and Mar del Plata, next week the Premier Padel circuit closes its series of three tournaments a row in South America with the Banco de Chile Santiago Premier Padel P1, the second P1 tournament in a row, with 1,000 points up for grabs for the winning pairs. It will be played at the 12,000-seat Movistar Arena, which is preparing to welcome the best players on the planet. The draw has been made in the Chilean capital: the men’s draw of 48 pairs (with the 16 top seeds going straight into the second round) and the women’s draw of 32.
MEN In the men’s, the number 1 pair will still be Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, who in the second round will face either Nachi Sager and Salva Oria or Chilean wild cards Ignacio Andres Lehyt and Sebastian Munoz Campos. In the same half of the draw, Paquito Navarro and Juan Lebron, who will surely debut against a pair from the qualifiers. In the bottom half, however, number 2 seed Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan: their first opponents will come out of the challenge between Italian Denis Perino and Pablo Garcia Rodrigo and two other Italians, Aris Patiniotis and Facundo Dominguez. For Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno, on the other hand, either José Antonio Diestro and Pol Hernandez Alvarez or Mario Ortega and Joseda Sanchez. Potential quarter-finals: Coello/Tapia (1)-Tello/Belasteguin (5, as in Mar del Plata, on Bela’s last day in Argentina), Sanchez/Gutierrez (8)-Navarro/Lebron (3), Stupaczuk/Di Nenno (4)-Yanguas/Garrido (6), Gonzalez/Ruiz (7)-Chingotto/Galan (2).
WOMEN Among the women, Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez lead the entry list and will play their first match against Araceli Martinez and Marina Guinart. Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez, the number 2 seed, were instead drawn against Nuria Rodriguez and Maria Eulalia Rodriguez Abajo. Completing the seeding podium are Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez: for them, first round against Italy’s Carlotta Casali and Spain’s Arantxa Soriano. Potential quarter-finals: Josemaria/Sanchez (1)-Ortega/Virseda (5), Castelló-Jensen (6)-Triay/Fernandez (3), Salazar/Icardo (4)-Riera/Araujo (7), Sainz/Llaguno (8)-Brea/Gonzalez (2). The weekend is dedicated to the qualifying draw: from Monday the men’s first round matches, from Tuesday those of the women’s first round. The finals are scheduled for Sunday, 2nd June.
