Asunción Premier Padel P2, here are the draws. The tour is back in South America: the first of three tournaments in a row
May 12, 2024After the first two European stages (Brussels and Sevilla), Premier Padel – the only world professional circuit under the governance of the FIP, International Padel Federation, comes back to South America, for three stages in a row: Asunción (Paraguay), Mar del Plata (Argentina) and Santiago (Chile). It begins with a P2 in the capital of Paraguay, which already hosted a major event last November, the FIP Juniors World Padel Championships: it will be played at the ueno SND Arena and, after the enrd of the qualifiers, from Tuesday will host the main draw matches.
MEN In the men’s draw, it starts again with the two consecutive titles of Ale Galan and Fede Chingotto, who will be the number 2 seed and will begin their tournament against a new pair, the one formed by Javier Martinez and Antonio ‘Pincho’ Fernandez. For Arturo Coello, number 1 in the FIP ranking, and Agustin Tapia, the opener will be against Lucas Bergamini and Victor Ruiz. Still looking for their first final as a pair are Paquito Navarro and Juan Lebron, seeded number 3 and drawn at the top, the same as Coello/Tapia: debut against Ivan Ramirez (number 42 in the FIP ranking) and José Jimenez (85). The fourth pair in the seeding are Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno, coming from their first final of the season in Seville: the Argentine ‘Superpibes’ will start against Juan Cruz Belluati and Miguel Lamperti, who came very close to defeat Coello/Tapia in Brussels. These are the hypothetical quarterfinals: Coello/Tapia (1)-Yanguas/Garrido (6), Tello/Belasteguin (5)-Navarro/Lebron (3), Stupaczuk/Di Nenno (4)-Sanchez/Gutierrez (8), Gonzalez/Ruiz (7)-Chingotto/Galan (2).
WOMEN Open series of titles also in the women’s draw: if Chingotto and Galan are coming from two triumphs in a row, Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez are coming from the Puerto Cabello-Brussels-Sevilla hat-trick. As in the other P2s, the top four seeds in the 28-pair draw in Asunción will go straight into the round of 16. Brea/Gonzalez will face Sharifova/Martinez or Rodriguez/Rodriguez Abajo. For Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez, who remain at the top of the FIP ranking, a pair between Rufo/Caldera and Canovas/Velasco. Tricky debut for the number 3, Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez, against Osoro/Goenaga or a qualified pair; for Alejandra Salazar and Tamara Icardo (4), it’s Casali/Soriano or a qualified.
