Asunción Premier Padel P2, day 1. The best start well: double 6-0 for Navarro-Lebron

It took only 50 minutes for Paquito Navarro and Juan Lebron to make their intentions clear in the Asunción Premier Padel P2: the Spanish pair, who have been playing together since Brussels, reaching a quarterfinal in Belgium and a semifinal in the Sevilla Premier Padel P2, debuted at the ueno SND Arena with a 6-0 double over Ivan Ramirez and José Jimenez. But Navarro and Lebron are not the only ones to have started the week with an impressive victory: Ale Galan and Fede Chingotto, the number 2 seed, also did well, giving up just two games (6-2 6-0) to Javier Martinez and ‘Pincho’ Fernandez. Among the top seeds, also ok were Momo Gonzalez and Alex Ruiz (7), with 6-3 6-4 over Rubio/Bautista, and Fernando Belasteguin and Juan Tello (5), thanks to 6-3 6-4 over wild cards Cuello/Valenzuela. Today, as the second match of the session starting at 15.30 local time (21.30 CET), the debut of Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia (1) against Lucas Bergamini and Victor Ruiz; in the second match of the morning session (starting at 10 Paraguayan time, 16.00 CET), an all-Argentinian challenge between Stupaczuk/Di Nenno (4) and Cruz Belluati/Lamperti.

WOMEN Waiting for the debut of the top four seeds, the number 6 pair in the Asunción draw formed by Jessica Castelló and Claudia Jensen had to come back from a set down before beating 6-7 6-3 6-1 Marta Barrera and Marta Caparros. In the challenge between pairs coming from the qualifiers, however, it was Spain’s Monica Gomez and Brazil’s Manuela Schuck who earned a place in the round of 16, thanks to a 6-3 6-4 win over Carmen Castillon and Raquel Piltcher. Opening today’s schedule on the Centre Court will be Virginia Riera and Sofia Araujo (7) against Perez/Martinez; among the top seeds, Osoro/Goenaga (9) will also be on the court, having earned a place in the seeding due to the withdrawals of Alejandra Salazar and Tamara Icardo: they will face Martinez/Guinart.
