Three questions to… Delfi Brea: “To the youngest ones I say, enjoy yourselves, it’s the beauty of sports”

“Three Questions to…” is the new column through which the International Padel Federation wants to bring FIP Ranking players closer to fans, revealing curiosity, anecdotes, and little secrets, with only three questions as quick as a net approach. Why only three? Because letting the field speak with the great champions is always the best… And because talking about great players who touch perfection, three is the perfect number!

This time we met Delfi Brea a few minutes after her triumph in the P2 of Puerto Cabello, her first victory of the season partnering with Bea Gonzalez.

If you had to find three adjectives to describe Delfi Brea, what would they be? And for Jorge Martínez, your coach?

“Let me think… Well, I think the most fitting ones are serious, hardworking, and courageous. As for Jorge, I would say demanding, family-oriented, and a great guy!”.

Let’s talk about your colleagues now. Who are the three male and female players you prefer? And if you could “steal” three things from them?

“I would say Martin Di Nenno, Ale Galan, and Fede Chingotto among the guys, undoubtedly my favorites. As for the girls, I would choose Alejandra Salazar, Paulita Josemaría, and Gemma Triay. What would I ‘steal’ from them? First, the smash from each of them, especially Galan’s. Then Paulita’s ‘víbora’ and Alejandra’s wall exit. Oh yes, wait, I would also steal Gemma’s reverse backhand”.

Many young people follow you and consider you an example. Can you give three pieces of advice for young male and female players approaching padel?

“Three are few, but first of all, enjoy it, have fun. It’s really the most beautiful thing about sports and therefore also about padel. I also believe it’s important to surround yourself with a team that loves and supports you. And then it’s very important to have the right companions in training and competitions”.
