FIP Promotion Sharjah: Norton, British surprise among three Spanish

If in the men’s draw of the FIP Promotion Sharjah it was a Spanish pair – the one formed by Sergio Icardo and Fran Jurado – who lifted the trophy, in the women’s one it was another Spanish player, Silvia Lopez Vidal, who won in the company of British Tia Louisa Norton.

Both finals of the CUPRA FIP Tour tournament played in the UAE ended in two sets: Icardo and Jurado, now number 102 and number 338 in the FIP ranking respectively (with Jurado moving up 135 places), beat Argentina’s Facundo Erguy and Spain’s José Antonio Arcos 7-5 6-2, while Lopez/Vidal Norton (the latter now number 137 in the FIP ranking) won 6-3 7-5 over Argentina’s Gimena Sol Perez and Maria Constanza Vega.
