Riyadh Season Premier P1, lots of new pairs in the entry list of the first tournament of the year
February 5, 2024In February, padel enters a new era. From 2024, one professional circuit, one calendar, one ranking. There will be 25 tournaments in the Premier Padel tour, under the governance of the International Padel Federation, the first of which will be scheduled at the end of the month in Saudi Arabia, in Riyadh, as part of Riyadh Season, a calendar of international events taking place in the Arab city. These include the Riyadh Season P1, an event that will open an unforgettable padel season and in which all the world’s best men and women players are registered.
The end of the 2023 season and the beginning of 2024 have also brought news in the circuit’s leading pairs: if Ale Galan and Juan Lebron – winners of the Milano Premier Padel P1 – chose to go on together, as did Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia and the ‘Superpibes’ Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno, as the number 4 seed in the Riyadh draw here is the first new: Paquito Navarro will play with Sanyo Gutierrez. New partner also for Fede Chingotto, who has chosen to play with Momo Gonzalez. A domino effect that brings Javi Garrido to share the court with Mike Yanguas, partner in 2023 of Fernando Belasteguin who will form an all-Argentinean pair with Luciano Capra.
In the women’s draw, at least in the first three pairs of the Riyadh Season P1 entry list, everything is confirmed from last year: Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez lead, followed by Bea Gonzalez and Delfina Brea and Marta Ortega/Gemma Triay. As fourth seed, here is the first new entry: Alejandra Salazar, finalist in Milan with Sofia Araujo, will play with Tamara Icardo, who until a few weeks ago was paired with Maria Virginia Riera, who will now pair up with the Portuguese. Another ‘crossover’ is that between Jessica Castelló and Claudia Jensen, a new pairing with Aranzazu Osoro and Veronica Virseda. With the ‘padel-market’ closed, now it’s time to play.
