The International Padel Federation and the Spanish Padel Federation launch the professional elite circuit in Spain with Platinum and Gold tournaments, the most prestigious events of the CUPRA FIP TOUR
January 4, 2024The Spanish Padel Federation, together with the Autonomous federations, will lead the project alongside FIP to offer top level padel throughout the national territory with tournaments of the highest category of the FIP world circuit.
The International Padel Federation and the Spanish Padel Federation will work together – in collaboration with organizers recognized by the federations themselves – to bring FIP Platinum and FIP Gold tournaments to all of Spain, completing the professional padel offering with competitions from the highest categories of the FIP circuit.
After the publication of the PREMIER PADEL calendar, a new vision of the discipline arrives throughout the national territory, aiming to bring together the best players in the world and offer highly spectacular events for the audience. The new fabric of FIP tournaments in Spain does not lose sight of a primary objective for FIP, FEP, and the entire movement: to give young talents the opportunity to compete on the circuit, gain experience, and thus ensure the future and generational succession of our sport. In this way, new talents and professionals who wish to do so will have a wide range of options to access points in the new and unique FIP world ranking, which brings together the PREMIER PADEL circuit and the CUPRA FIP TOUR. The latter is present on all five continents and guarantees a “non-stop” show with around 120 tournaments per year.
In order to continue promoting padel in the country, the Spanish Federation will lead the project alongside FIP. All CUPRA FIP TOUR tournaments organized in Spain will take place in coordination with the various Autonomous federations – which can promote this sport through organizers recognized by FIP and FEP -, which will be crucial in the development of the world calendar.
Luigi Carraro, president of the International Padel Federation, emphasized Spain in the framework of the global padel: “We are facing a crucial challenge for 2024, a year in which we will bet on the definitive and global spread of padel worldwide, a fundamental objective that will undoubtedly have ramifications and benefits for the entire movement. To do this, we have to give new priorities and a new vision to Spain – a country of reference from a technical and fan perspective worldwide – looking at its talents, professionals, and the audience from new perspectives. And we will do it through the prestigious fabric of FIP Platinum and FIP Gold tournaments, a fabric that will have a great international echo, essential to bring together young talents and the best players in the world and capable of creating the necessary continuity in the expectations of the spectators”.
The president of the Spanish Padel Federation, Ramón Morcillo, highlighted the importance of remaining leaders at a historic moment: “We firmly believe that a good network of FIP Platinum and FIP Gold tournaments will help us maintain the great moment of our players and, at the same time, we will have the spectacle we want close to home, working, hand in hand with the Autonomous Federations”.
Within the competitive framework of the International Padel Federation, FIP Platinum tournaments offer 200 points and FIP Gold events offer 100 FIP Ranking points (which includes PREMIER PADEL and CUPRA FIP TOUR events).
FIP Platinum events have a prize pool of 120,000 euros, and FIP Gold events have a prize pool of 50,000 euros.
Autonomous Federations and other recognized tournament organizers may request approval from FIP and FEP for the organization of FIP Platinum and FIP Gold events before January 25, 2024, and the signing of the corresponding MoU.
