FIP PROMOTION La Cala, first success for Rico/Esbri

One of the new 2024 pairs on the world circuit has won its first CUPRA FIP Tour title. Javi Rico and Juanlu Esbri, who have been together for only a few weeks, won the FIP PROMOTION La Cala, played in Finestrat (Spain). In the final against Mario Ortega and Ignacio Piotto, the two Spaniards lost the first and only set of their tournament, but managed to come back and finish 4-6 7-6 6-3.

Spanish success also in the women’s draw, with the victory of Raquel Eugenio Barrera and Camila Fassio Goyeneche, who were not even among the seeded players but overturned the predictions. After losing only five games in the first two rounds, two wins came in three sets, including 4-6 7-6 6-3 in the final against Elena De La Rosa Ramos and Jana Montes Cabruja. Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska and Marta Domachowska were defeated in the round of 16, beaten by the players who would later lift the trophy.
