two Italian pairs in the women’s semifinals

The surprises in the FIP STAR Fastweb Padel Arena Perugia come from Sweden. After eliminating Carlos Perez Cabeza and Jesus Moya (6) in the first round, Daniel Windahl and Simon Vasquez repeated themselves in the quarter-finals against the third seed on the draw, Nachi Sager (winner of the CUPRA FIP Finals 2022) and Mario Del Castillo, beaten 6-2 6-4. In the semifinals, Windahl and Vasquez will face Pablo Cardona and Ivan Ramirez (2), who defeated Dylan Demian Cuello and Denis Perino (6-4 3-6 6-0) in the evening. At the top, however, the march of Alejandro Arrojo and Eduardo Alonso, ahead 6-2 6-4 over Patiniotis/Dominguez, goes on: the leaders of the entry list find in the semifinal (second match from 10.30) Javier Barahona and Javier Garcia (4), who won 6-7 7-5 6-4 against Vilariño/Oria in the most balanced match of the day.

Among the women, the only surprise is the presence of the Italians Caterina Baldi and Valentina Tommasi, who defeated the Dutch Koek/Weterings (4) and are expected to open Saturday’s programme with a match at 10.30 a.m. against Martinez Lobo/Navarro (1), who had no problem in the quarters (6-2 6-0) against Fassio/Perez Parra.
