Day 3, All the strongest players ahead Salazar, debut with a marathon

The top two seeds in the Greenweez Paris Major Premier Padel didn’t disappoint expectations. Number 1 Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria gave up only four games (6-1 6-3) to Marta Borrero and Ksenia Sharifova, while number 2 Marta Ortega and Gemma Triay closed out their first match against Aguilar Carrillo/Manquillo Alarda with a double 6-0. Winning debuts also for the Madrid champions: Delfina Brea and Bea Gonzalez (3) defeated 6-4 6-2 Araceli Martinez and Sara Ruiz Soto.

World No. 4 Alejandra Salazar, who had been forced to miss the Rome and Madrid tournaments due to injury, also won her first match on the Premier Padel circuit: the Spaniard, paired with Portuguese Sofia Araujo (4), beat the very young Alejandra Alonso and Andrea Ustero in the most exciting match of the day, which ended 5-7 7-6 7-5 in two hours and 57 minutes.

The first big surprise of the tournament had come on Tuesday night, with the defeat of twins Maria José and Maria Pilar Sanchez Alayeto (5), beaten 6-3 5-7 6-4 by Beatriz Caldera Sanchez and Ana Caterina Nogueira in a match that ended after almost four hours.

Tomorrow, with the round of 16, the draw gets underway: Sanchez/Josemaria at 1 p.m. on the Philippe-Chatrier will face Fernandez Sanchez/Iglesias Segador (10), and also on the Centre Court as the third match, Ortega/Triay against Rodriguez/Talavan (12).
