Ramirez wins and flies to Cordoba

The fairytale of Nicolas Crosio and Gustavo Ariel Aguirre came to an end at the most beautiful moment. Winners of the FIP GOLD in Mexico City were Ivan Ramirez del Campo and Gonzalo Rubio, world numbers 32 and 28 respectively. In the final, the two favourites and best-ranked players in the FIP rankings lost the first set on a tiebreak, before winning the second 7-5 and the third 6-0.

For Ramirez, however, not even time to celebrate: there was a plane waiting to take him back to Europe, as – paired with Juan Mieres – he will be playing in the FIP RISE Ciudad de Cordoba. Ramirez and Rubio had also won in three sets in the semifinals against Geens/Tison, while Crosio/Aguirre – who were not even listed among the seeded players – defeated the number 3 on the draw, Iriart/Perez Cabeza, before going all the way to the final.
