Gil and Lamperti win. Mieres leaves

Five matches won without losing a set. It was a perfect way that led Francisco Manuel Gil and Miguel Lamperti to win the FIP RISE Ciudad de Cordoba. The first seed on the draw won 7-5 6-4 in the final against Jairo Bautista and José Luis Gonzalez, the number 3 seed. However, the FIP RISE Ciudad de Cordoba will also be remembered as the last ‘pro’ tournament played in the career of padel legend Juani Mieres, a former world number one who had already returned to the court after several injuries during the last years.

Paired with Ivan Ramirez del Campo, Mieres lost 6-3 7-6 in the semifinals to Bautista/Gonzalez. There were many messages of affection and thanks on social media: “Thank you legend”. In the women’s draw, the winners were Monica Gomez Rivas and Amanda Lopez Moral, 6-1 7-5 in the final against Argentine Marianela Montesi and Daiara Valenzuela.
