Upset in the FIP RISE in Agrigento. Lifting the trophy in the men’s draw was a pair not included in the seeding, the one formed by the Spaniard Oscar Vazquez Fernandez and the Italian-Argentinian Cristian Calneggia, who has been living in Italy for some time now and who, at 43 years, never stops having fun.
Calneggia divides his time between the role of teacher and that of player, and in Agrigento, after defeating the number 2 and number 3 seeded pairs (Moreau/Florensa Hernandez and Inzerillo/Maigret), with Vazquez Fernandez he overcame the Spaniard Joel Olivera Palos and the Argentine Dylan Demian Cuello (7-5 6-3). “A pleasure to fight on all balls by your side”, Vazquez’s dedication to Calneggia.
Among the women, the trophy was lifted by sisters Pilar and Rocio Albarran Villalon, not twins but separated by less than a year: Pilar was born on 15 January 2002, Rocio on 8 January 2003. They won 6-3 6-4 over the French Wendy Barsotti and Elodie Invernon
