Big pairs start with a win Tomorrow the round of 16

A good debut at the P1 Premier in Madrid for the two most awaited Spanish pairs: coming straight from Rome, where on Sunday evening they faced each other in the final of the BNL Italy Major Premier Padel (absolute debut of the women’s draw in the Premier Padel circuit), Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez opened the programme on the Centre Court defeating Sara Ruiz Soto and Agueda Perez Ortiz with a double 6-2. Similar game for the Rome champions, Marta Ortega and Gemma Triay, who defeated wild cards Sara Pujals and Lara Arruabarrena (6-2 6-0) immediately after the number 1 ranking match. Among the top seeds, the elimination of the pair formed by Carolina Orsi and Patricia Llaguno (7), who were surprised in three sets by Lucia Martinez Gomez and Carmen Goenaga.

Thursday is round of 16 day also in the women’s draw: Triay and Ortega will be the first to take the court on the Centre against qualifiers Cañellas/Mesa, followed by Sanchez/Josemaria against another pair coming from the qualifiers, the one formed by Marta Borrero and the Russian (but who has lived in Spain for some time) Ksenia Sharifova. The second match of the afternoon session (starting at 4pm) is between Delfina Brea/Bea Gonzalez and Carolina Navarro/Marina Guinart, while court number 2 will host the match between the Alayeto twins and Esther Carnicero Martrin/Mari Carmen Villalba.
