Evening session – Friday is quarter final day, Italy try to fight Spain power

At the end of the Day 2, there will be eight pairs left to play for medals in the European Games 2023 in Krakow. The men’s and women’s draw lists are lining up for the quarter-finals, with the competition getting into full swing on Friday. On the men’s side, Alonso Rodriguez and Pablo Garcia defeated Viktor Stjern and Daniel Appelgren (Sweden) in a double tiebreak, while on the other side of the draw Daniel Santigosa and David Gala defeated Johannes Lindmeyer and Matthias Wunner from Germany (6-2 7-5).
Against the odds was the success of Italians Riccardo Sinicropi and Giulio Graziotti, who defeated in three sets the seventh seed on the draw, Belgians Maxime Deloyer and Bram Coene. It was a very good day for the Italian padel, which also recorded the successes in the women’s of Chiara Pappacena and Giulia Sussarello (6-1 6-2 against the Dutch Maaike Betz and Janine Hemmes) and of the pair formed by Carolina Orsi and Giorgia Marchetti, the number 4 seed, who won against the Swedes Ajla Behram and Amanda Girdo (6-4 6-3).
The march of the top two seeds, both from Spain, Marta Barrera and Marta Caparros (6-1 6-0 against Ieva Ceilutkaite and Aukse Maciulaityte from Lithuania) and Ana Canovas, who is on the same side of the court with Araceli Maria Martinez to beat Karin Hechenberger and Larissa Meyer from Switzerland (6-2 6-4), continued without opponents.
