FIP Promises, the future is now Seventeen tournaments for tomorrow’s talents
April 5, 2023Promises. The name already says it all. Padel promises also have their own calendar of FIP tournaments, in Europe but also in Brazil. The one played last weekend in Eindhoven (Netherlands) was the first of 17 stages, 14 of them European and three South American. The Promises circuit is hosted in five nations (besides the Netherlands, also Spain, Italy, Sweden and Brazil), which will therefore host more stages in different locations during 2023. The number of Promises tournaments has grown compared to last year, as has the number of members. One of the goals of the International Padel Federation is to improve the number of young players, to create a real youth movement that in the coming years can ensure a generational change and an increasingly high level of competitiveness at the highest levels. There are three categories within the Promises Tournaments, divided by age group: Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18 tournaments are organised for both men and women.
Winners in Eindhoven were Nicolò Fiore and Gabriele Laurino (Italy, Men’s U14), Jorrit Hazebroek and Thomas Panken (Netherlands, Men’s U16), Matteo Platania and Noa Bonnefoy (Italy, Men’s Under 18), Vittoria Girardi and Matilde Minelli (Italy, Women’s U16), Fen Rauwerdink and Kyra Heemskerk (Netherlands, Women’s Under 18). The two women’s tournaments were held under the round robin stage.
